Welcome to FatLadyBlogSpot!

Happy 31st birthday to me! To celebrate I have enrolled myself in weekly torture sessions at the hands of Bob, oops, I mean Robert, my personal torturer, I mean trainer. The last time I did any serious cardio that actually counts for anything was probably when I marched with the ISUF'V'MB way back in the late 90s. Hence, I am somewhat -ok- really out of shape. Although I am a very busy person, I have not been a physically active person. One husband, four dogs, three horses, two cats, two Masters degrees, and eight years of teaching later, I have found that I am unhappy with the state of my health and body, so it is time for a change. Unfortunately, not all of my horse time has helped me to keep my middle from expanding! Therefore, I journey now into that realm of healthy living. I am going to track my physical activity through three of my interests in hopes that it will keep me motivated to stick with working towards my transformation. Check back often to comment or encourage me onward. Or, get motivated yourself to make a change.

Run FatLady, Run

Run FatLady, Run will track my progress at the gym. I will have two personal training sessions per week for the low, low price of a brazillion dollars, in addition to two other cardio workouts on my own time between sessions.

Ride FatLady, Ride

Ride FatLady, Ride will track my progress through Equisize, a program I am piloting for Kirsten Nelsen's Optimal Balance. Equisize helps riders find and use their core both on and off the horse. Much like pilates, the exercises help with balance and control, and can help the rider work towards an independent seat more efficiently and quickly.

Dance FatLady, Dance

Dance FatLady, Dance means poor David Lauer with his two left feet will participate in the torture as well! I took several ballroom dance classes back at Iowa State University and had a great time. I have wanted to get back to dancing ever since, but time is forever a factor. Omaha Ballroom Dance is offering several six week classes all thoughout April and May, so we are signing up! All you Omahans feel free to join us. I will post information soon!
